Oh, Where my Wild Wonderings have taken me... I think I came up with about 9 action research plans that I wanted to present to my site supervisor. She probably would have thought I was a bit crazy! But after debating which ones to show her and rambling on and on, my principal and I decided on my action research project. When I started my Masters, she approached me with a project and in mid-sentence she stopped and said she would explain later. Well, I understand now... she was saving it for my action research plan! I am excited to say that I will be looking at the use of a software program to increase vocabulary development called Imagine Learning. We will be piloting this program with our ESL and at-risk students and compare their vocabulary usage and growth against other vocabulary scores! We will be implementing this in grades K-5. I will be in charge of gathering usage and growth reports and looking at students in all grade levels and their vocabulary development in class with teacher surveys and using their Istation vocabulary scores. So... I will have my hands full these next few months or so! I am really excited to get started and see in what ways we can support these kiddos in their learning!
On another note... IT'S SPRING BREAK!!! Teachers, I don't know about you all, but my kids and I were a bit crazy and wound up these last few days in school. I am so grateful to have some time off to get ahead on school work, work on stations and fun games, and not to mention the WILD THING that is growing out of my laundry pile!! Seriously, I cannot believe how much laundry there is to be done!!!
Nothing but coffee, laundry and reading for me this week!! I hope you all enjoy your Spring Break and will keep you posted on my research as it develops!
